Simonsen & Sippel Endorsed by Lower Township GOP
Lower Township – Erik Simonsen and Frank Sippel were endorsed last week by the Lower Township GOP as candidates for Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively. One week later, more than 200 friends of Simonsen and Sippel packed VFW Post 5343 for their campaign kick-off event.

Sippel retired as a Command Sergeant Major from the NJ Army National Guard after 32 years of active, distinguished service to our nation. He excelled during his military service and was fortunate enough to be awarded the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism, Bronze Star, Army Meritorious Service Medal (3 times) and numerous other medals and accommodations. Sippel has also served our community for more than two decades as a youth sports coach and referee.

“I would like to thank my family, the Lower Township Republican Organization, and all my friends who have already contacted me to ask how they can help and all the people that came out to the event tonight. The support we received already – close to 800 supporters on Facebook in one week and a huge crowd that came out to our event was amazing; it is truly humbling,” said Sippel. He continued, “I am excited to start knocking on doors to meet more of our Township’s residents. I am hopeful our community will see me as the right person to work on Council with Erik, Tom Conrad and Dave Perry. Those guys are getting a lot of good things done, and I think I can add to that and help move Lower Township in the right direction.”

Simonsen was born and raised in Lower Township and is the current Ward 3 Coucilman. Erik graduated from The College of New Jersey and later obtained a Master’s Degree in School Administration. He currently works as the Assistant Principal of Richard M. Teitelman School, serves as a Deacon at his church and has also volunteered with our local youth and special needs children for nearly two decades.

Simonsen stated, “I am honored by the endorsement and would like to thank the Lower Township GOP and the good people of Ward 3 for their support over the years. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving residents of Ward 3, as well as residents of the entire Township.” He added, “I am confident this election will forever close the door on the divisive and politically-charged government that has been fueled by Mike Beck and Norris Clark. Tom, Dave and I have put politics aside and focused on improving the Township while returning to policies of fiscal restraint, which is evidenced by the projects we completed this past year with no tax increase to our residents. I look forward to this campaign and the road ahead.”
