After two years of discussion, artificial turf will be coming to Carey Stadium in Ocean City for football and other sports. The Ocean City Council is expected to award a contract at their meeting Thursday night to LandTek Group of Amityville, N.Y. for the job. Their low bid of $449,900 is for installation of artificial turf with a cork base, rather than crumb rubber, which has been reportedly linked to cancer cases. Council also will consider an ordinance to regulate street performers on the boardwalk, with specific limits for times and locations, and a required permit for a $50 fee.
