Another crisis averted- for now. On Wednesday, Atlantic City Council voted unanimously to stretch the city employee’s pay period from 14 to 28 days. This means the local government will not shut down after Friday’s pay day and the city will have revenue from May 1st tax payments to cover the next round of paychecks. City officials are hoping that during the next four weeks a compromise can be worked out to avoid a state takeover.
