MOUNT MITCHELL,TWIN LIGHTS AND THE HENRY HUDSON TRAIL

We begin this hike walking on the Hartshorne Woods Grand Tour Trail to visit the Twin Lights on Lighthouse Street,where the Lighthouses are located, it is a very steep climb, but the effort is well worth it.
The scenery overseeing Sandy Hook and the surrounding area is magnificent.
The Navesink Twin Lights is a non-operational lighthouse and museum.It overlooks Sandy Hook Bay,the entrance to the New York Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean.We will spend some time here because there is a lot to see.
Next we walk through the Highlands on our way to Mount Mitchell.Mount Mitchell is 266 feet high and sits on the Atlantic Coast’s highest headlands south of Maine ,providing beautiful views of Sandy Hook ,Raritan Bay and the New York Skyline.We will also visit the 9-11 Memorial located next to Mount Mitchell.
After visiting Mount Mitchell,we walk down Ocean Avenue pass the home of Thomas Paine(Revolutionary War) and all the beautiful mansions on our way to the Atlantic Highlands Marina for lunch.
After lunch we walk on the Henry Hudson Trail and we visit the Henry Hudson Springs on our way to Popamora Point, the end of the HHT.We continue through the Highlands on our way back to the cars.

THERE IS A $5 FEE TO VISIT THE TWIN LIGHTS LIGHTHOUSES.IN THE LIGHTHOUSES YOU MIGHT BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK.
